Two announcements

May 14th, 2008

I have two announcements. First, I have upgrade my blog software, again. I am, once more, running the latest & greatest. Second, I have crossed Idaho off of my list of states to visit.

Latest and Greatest

April 21st, 2008

I wouldn’t be surprised if no one noticed.  I haven’t blogged anything in ages, so there’s really been no reason for anyone to visit.  But — I did upgrade Wordpress not too long ago.  And, I just wanted to say that this version (2.5) rocks!

Eye - Phone - Facebook

February 29th, 2008

I just got Mobile Uploads to Facebook working from my iPhone. This is very cool. Now, I can take a picture one minute and share it with my Facebook buddies the next. ;-)

Custom Anti-Spam mod

February 15th, 2008

I was going to employ a little .htaccess to block certain IPs which are repeat offenders. But, I was afraid that it wouldn’t do enough for me. So, I did a little magic:

ln wp-comments-post.php comments-post.php
cat >> .htaccess
<Files wp-comments-post.php>
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
Allow from none
</Files>
^C

Now, update your theme to submit the comment form to comments-post.php rather than wp-comments-post.php. What’s neat about this hard link, is that it should be un-effected by Wordpress upgrades.

If this drastically reduces the spam (which I am currently manually moderating), I’ll remove the moderation queue.

Comment Crackdown

February 2nd, 2008

The spam has gotten out of control. So, I’ve finally decided to enforce comment moderation. My automated systems have been catching a lot of spam, but too many have been getting through the filters. Comments will now be manually approved before appearing on the blog.

Awesome God

January 22nd, 2008

I went biking again today. The weather lately has been amazing. Between the marine layer and the ‘wanna-be’ rain, the horizon has been beautiful. And with such a beautiful view, I just feel like I need to be out there enjoying it.

So today, I went biking. I biked from my place to a friends house (but they didn’t answer the doorbell) and back. On the way back, I turned east onto East H street. I looked up and saw the full moon rising over the mountains. It was a big, bright amber ball, ascending into the evening sky. Such a beautiful sight!

And, I started to sing:

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from Heaven above
With wisdom, power and love
Our God is an awesome God

Lord of all creation
Of the water, earth and sky
The Heavens are your Tabernacle
Glory To the Lord on high

God of wonders
Beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe
Declares your majesty
You are holy, holy

Site Upgrade

January 22nd, 2008

I just upgraded the site again.  I’m hoping that the remaining bugs have been fixed.  If you find something that is not working, please, let me know!

iPhone upgraded

January 16th, 2008

Apple is Amazing! I just upgraded the firmware on my iPhone. There’s a few things that I’d like to brag about here…

First thing is that the firmware upgrade WORKED!

Secondly, the google maps things is way cooler with the “locate me” button. I now have a GPS dohicky built into my phone. How cool is that?!

Thirdly… you know how Linux has those multiple desktops? Yeah, I’ve got those on my phone now, too.

So, I’ve still got pretty much the most bestest phone out there.

Like Riding a Bike

January 8th, 2008

After work today, I drove back to PLNU, parked my car and biked home.  I forgot my cyclometer, but I biked the ~18 miles in ~90 minutes.  I haven’t touched a bike in 4 months, and I’m really feeling it.  The plan was to bike back to work the next morning, but my body is not ready for that yet.

You know traffic is jacked up when it takes you an hour to drive to work and an hour and a half to bike home. :-/

Mark [dot]Mac

November 24th, 2007

I have finally bought my first Mac: the Mac Mini.
